Defense Secretary Charles E. Wilson, was an American businessman and politician, and the United States Secretary of Defense from 1953 to 1957 under President Eisenhower. In the wake of the Korean War, he cut the defense budget significantly.With no end to the Cold War in sight, Eisenhower turned his attention to containing the cost of containment. Nuclear weapons delivered "more bang for the buck," explained Wilson.
